The Yiddish Book Center is a nonprofit
organization working to tell the whole Jewish story by rescuing,
translating, and disseminating Yiddish books and presenting
educational programs that broaden understanding of modern Jewish identity.
To date, the Center has saved over one million books that otherwise would
have been lost.
To help tell their story, the Center engaged
Roger Westerman Design to plan a video based Orientation Gallery.
Located off the main entrance, visitors are invited to view a video telling
the story of the founding of the Center. When the Start button is
pressed, the room lights dim and the video begins. At the end, the
room lights brighten and the system awaits the next visitor. Pressing
the Stop button stops the video and forces the room lights on full.
Equipment includes a BrightSign HD video player,
a custom interface box, and two Kelmar LCS-AS2.4 Lamp Dimmers. The
